Dogs by Mac

Named pedigree dog breeds have long been a popular postcard theme, some that catch the eye are in the unique pastel style of artist pseudonym 'Mac'. This was the name used by English born artist Lucy Dawson. Although best known for her 'Tailwagger' series produced by Valentines in the 1930's she was quite a prolific artist and worked in pen, ink, oils and pencil in addition to the familiar pastels.



Lucy Dawsons work also included book illustrations and the 'Puppies' series of cigarette cards for Wills & Co.



The cards shown are from Valentine & Co.s 'Tailwagger' series. They usually sell in the range £5.00 to £8.00
